Dietary changes:
Small changes really add up. I cut cola out of my diet and it’s helped a lot.

If you don’t have time to cook healthy meals buy a slow cooker. Chop up a bunch of veggies and some meat, throw it all in with some water and you have a healthy meal…but in a slow cooker you can get the food cut up and in the cooker in the morning and have it ready for dinner.

Exercise:
I walk my son to and from school so I’m making activity a part of my life, while the walk alone won’t drastically change me overnight the concept or idea of working fitness into your daily routine and can really help. Walk instead of taking a car/bus not only does it save you money on gas/bus fair but it’s a great way to squeeze in that extra bit of exercise.

While you are studying take jumping jack breaks, not only does this incorporate exercise into your day but in increases the oxygen flow to your brain which keeps you more focused and helps you learn things easier.

When you are reading class material try doing bicep curls, before long it will be second nature and you’ll be able to focus on the reading while squeezing in that extra bit of exercise. (just use some light weight dumbbells that can be stored in your desk/out of the way). You could also use a resistance band if you prefer.

If you can wake up 20 minutes earlier try squeezing in the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels. It is an interval training dvd and everyone I know has had results from using it, best of all each session is only 20 minutes long.

Healthy supplements can increase the vitamins and anti-oxidents in your body and help your metabolism run faster.

Well there are a lot of them as you already noticed ;)

I think they are probably all basically the same. I know i ordered some bottles together with my neighbor online at herbalhealingstore.com and well i must say we are both pretty pleased with the results after just a couple of weeks.

Be carefull with what you order online. You can write off al those so called trial orders because they will charge your card after a few days anyway.

I use acai berry juice for its antioxidants. I use Rainbow Light everyday fiber and Triphala and lots of water.
Adding lots of fiber to your diet every day and drinking lots of water will keep your colon clean and functional, keep blood sugar and cholesterol at normal levels. If you add probiotics, you improve your immune system and digestive functions. It rids your body of many excess toxins.
You can do it for the rest of your life and live longer. I am not in favor of doing some hard core
thing for a week and then eating like a pig again.
Adding fiber and more water will be good for you every day of your life.

Lemme tell ya a little bit about Acai – its not much different than any other heavily pigmented food, such as tomatoes, pumpkin, blueberries etc.

See, every food that is heaviily pigmented contains thousands of phytonutrients that have health benefits….

And everytime something new comes into the health food market it is touted as a cure all for the problems people find heardest to deal with….and the premiere one that people want to hear about is weight loss….

So of course, its going to be marketed as “the new secret in the battle against the bulge” – and its gonna help you “where all others have failed”, even if you haven’t been able to lose weight “with diet and excercise”…blah, blah, blah…..

I have been in the health food industry long enough to know that when something is new, its almost always marketed to help people lose weight, detox you, improve looks, give you energy, and improve sex life….

Sound familiar?

Give the hype some time to die down, and I’m sure some scientific evidence will suggest that it is good for something (and based upon the “power of purple” (which are the benefits of proanthrocyanadins – which are chemicals that give foods blue or purple coloring) I’m guessing that it might help with connective tissue function….

but in the meantime, I’m gonna suggest that “you eat a rainbow” in terms of daily fruits and vegetable intake, decrease your white sugar/starch and satuerated fat intake, and get a half hour of aerobic ecxcersie everyday if you want to promote health and lose weight.

And I’m guessing you wont find a doctor on the planet (holistic or medical) that would suggest otherwise.
